Thanks Mayhem. On the signal/noise topic, I would love to get your insights on put/call ratios. Seems like bulls are always saying everyone is buying puts, bears are always saying everyone is buying calls, neither tends to distinguish among index, equities, intraday, etc. What do you look to, if anything, as actionable put/call information?

More puts are bought on indices as institutional insurance and more calls are bought in equity from speculators, whether retail or institutional. I find the CBOE equity put call ratio a more constructive sentiment heuristic. Extremes tend to be levels below 0.5 (euphoria) and above 1 (panic).
